Using Taleo - Managing Your Preferences

 

Taleo provides us with access to a few preferences that make it simpler to manage who has access to the requisitions we make. These can be accessed by going to the Resources link in the top-right corner of your Recruiting Center and clicking "My Setup."

Please note, if you are a Hiring Manager, then the Taleo welcome screen you first see when you log in also has a My Setup link. These preferences regard other settings outside of your requisitions. To addressed requisition ownership, first go to your Recruiting Center, then go to My Setup.

To access My Setup, first go to the Resources menu

When you go to My Setup, like any other file in Taleo, it's broken down into tabs. Your first tab, General, contains your personal information, which is not editable from within Taleo. This information is imported directly from PeopleSoft.

The General tab contains personal contact information.

The second tab, Preferences, contains a variety of settings, such as Accessibility Features, that may be useful.

The preferences tab contains accessibility and ownership information that can be edited.

As far as who has access to our requisitions, at the bottom of this tab you'll find the Default Hiring Manager and Default Recruiter fields. If you will regularly work with one hiring manager (which is common) or one recruiter (which is most staff), you can use these fields to automatically assign any new requisition you create to these people.

Use Section 3 of the Preferences tab to manage default requisition owners.

The next tab, Frequent Collaborators, allows you to set a default list of individuals who will regularly need access to your requisitions, such as approvers and hiring committee members. You can set a list of individuals here who you can later add to a requisition with a single click.

The final tab, Frequent Approvers, allows you to do something similar with your approval chains. Every approval chain will contain the dean or director of your department, the VP or Provost above them, and finally your HR Recruiter. If this list will always be the same for any requisition you make, you can set that approval chain here and have it appear automatically in your requisitions. If your approval chains will change from one requisition to another, you can disregard this tab.

If your office uses approval chains for offers, you can set those here as well. Approval chains for offers are not required by HR, and your HR Recruiter will not need to be present on the chain.

Use the Frequent Approvers tab to manage default approval chains, if applicable.
